Grass seed mixtures for 2026: Explore our new brochure
At McCreath Simpson & Prentice, we are committed to producing and supplying our customers with high-quality and successful grass seed mixtures.
Our mixtures only use varieties from the SRUC and NIAB recommended lists and they can all be found in our 2026 Grass Seed Mixtures brochure.
While strong industry demand is expected to tighten seed availability for 2026, we continue to secure first-choice varieties for our mixture range.
Whether you are establishing short-term leys, long-term grazing pastures or permanent upland pastures, our mixtures are designed to deliver high yields and consistent performance.

Frequently Asked Questions
We recommend ordering your grass seed as early as possible for the 2026 season, especially given the strong demand which has tightened seed availability.
Short term mixtures are designed for rapid establishment and high yields over one to two years. They typically feature Italian Ryegrass and are well suited for intensive silage or grazing systems where quick establishment and high output is required.
Medium term mixtures are generally sown for a three-to-five-year duration. They combine different ryegrass varieties to deliver a balance between productivity and persistence, making them well suited to cut and graze systems that require consistent performance.
Long term mixtures are designed to establish durable and productive pastures for five years and beyond. These mixtures incorporate fast-growing Perennial Ryegrasses with slower, hardier grasses likes Timothy and are most commonly used for grazing dairy cows, beef cattle and sheep.
