Earlier this week, we officially launched the Chivas Brothers Wheat Growers Group at an event attended by 56 farming customers, Farm Traders from McCreath Simpson & Prentice (MSP), and representatives from Chivas Brothers Ltd.
The growers – based from the Highlands of Scotland down into northern England – are all contracted through MSP to grow distilling wheat for Chivas Brothers’ Strathclyde Distillery, with the wheat stored and transported by us post-harvest to the distillery.
During the day, the growers listened to presentations from our Sustainability Manager Ben Gothorp and Environmental Sustainability Manager at Chivas Brothers, Ronald Daalmans, who chatted through each company’s sustainability roadmap and the investments both companies have made to showcase their commitment to sustainability and reducing the carbon footprint of the supply chain.
Head of Grain Distilling at Chivas Brothers, Stewart Banks, then shared a presentation about the company’s Strathclyde Distillery and its distilling process, before the afternoon was spent in breakout groups which provided the opportunity for growers to learn more and ask questions about:
From the feedback received so far, representatives from all parties found the day to be very useful and we hope that the growers are looking forward to being part of the Chivas Brothers Wheat Growers Group in 2024 and beyond.
