MSP to host Winter Wheat Trials Open Evening
On Monday, June 17, we're hosting our Winter Wheat Variety Trials Open Evening at Mountfair Farm in the Scottish Borders... and we'd love for you to join us.
Our team of Farm Traders will be available from 4pm - 8pm to take you through the 27 trial plots. We'll have treated and untreated plots of each variety on display, while we'll also have a section showcasing earlier drilled plots (drilled on September 11) and later drilled plots (drilled on September 27).
Varieties in the trials this year include current favourites such as KWS Dawsum and LG Skyscraper, through to new varieties like Bamford and LG Beowulf.
As per previous years, a food truck from local business U’ve Pulled will be stationed at the farm serving hot pork and beef rolls, alongside tea, coffee and juice.

Last month, Technical Officer Rosie Hamilton visited Mountfair Farm to provide an update from the trials site post-winter.
Rosie chats about the importance of variety choice and drilling dates this year, as well as the impact of the wet weather on crop health and the difference in growth habits between the early and late drilled plots.
